Presentation Review

        I believe all the groups did an amazing job at presenting and explaining their information. Throughout all the group's presentations, I learned a lot about everything going on in the world right now including racism, the pandemic/healthcare, and the educational system.

    Group 3 were the very first ones to present and started off with their topic about racism. They talked about the civil rights movement and explained how it was a big part of history for racism. They mentioned how it was a big struggle for Black Americans to gain equal rights under the law in the United States. They also gave an example about Emmet Till and how he was kidnapped, beaten, and shot in the head just for being accused of whistling at Carolyn Bryant. They also talked about Black Lives Matter which is a decentralized political and social movement protesting incidents of police brutality and all racially motivated violence against black people.

    Group 2 spoke about the pandemic/healthcare. We talked about how the pandemic has affected those with health insurance and from the many people who have suffered from coronavirus, the ones with insurance have things a lot easier financially. We talked about how everyone should stand 6 feet away and to wash our hands often. We also mentioned how essential workers including grocery clerks, supermarket workers, factory and farm workers, have not stopped working due to the coronavirus even without having adequate personal protective equipment. We mentioned how hospitals experienced increased covid-19 nursing staffing demands, as well as ICU bed occupancy. We talked about how many places shut down and how we were all asked to stay home. We gave examples of many countries and how they were handling the pandemic.

    Group 3 spoke about the educational system. They mentioned how many students are being taught through textbooks and how a lot of the information is actually outdated and inaccurate. This leads to students being misinformed and learning the wrong materials for many subjects. They talked about how online school has actually given students more time to learn important subjects since they are at home and have more free time rather than reading from an outdated textbook. They mentioned how many students in school are not well educated on the confederacy and how important it is that we went to war with the confederacy and professed to fight for liberty and independence from a too radical government. They also mentioned how equal access to funding is vital for a good education system.

    All groups gave a lot of information and explained their points very well. I learned a lot listening to my peers and looking at their PowerPoints. I really enjoyed this assignment and i found it very interesting since it was about topics that are currently happening.

   Once more I am here to share my review about the presentations that have been shared in my speech class. I was pleasantly surprised by how well each group delivered their topic. Of course, there were things that I would have liked to be done differently. However, I believe that each group presented to the best of their ability. Group reflections kisha zuniga

Kisha Zuniga 03/14/2021 Speech  Professor Sinkoff During the Group presentations I learned more about race and education. There was new information that I learned from the other groups such as race. All over the world, race is used by others to assign meaning to the way you look people will use physical characteristics like nose shape, eye shape, hair texture and most infamously, skin color to categorize race. Race isn’t a tangible concept, Social Construction Theory determines it’s more of a social idea created by institutions in society, meaning that it is created by society and is constantly changed. Group 2 Reflections (Project 2)

 Anthony Volquez-Colon The presentations this time around was more of issues we have in and as a society.   Problems that the world is facing still till this day and age.   The three major issues this class presented on was Racism, Pandemic/Healthcare background, and Education.   I was very eager to work on this project because, even though they are sensitive topics to some, I believe we should talk about it and raise awareness.   I believe this project was a great way in educating ourselves in many important issues that the world is facing today.
